Magali Millecamps

Magali Millecamps is affiliated with the University of Montreal (UdeM), where her research is dedicated to enhancing geriatric well-being. She focuses particularly on pain experience in older adults, investigating the underlying mechanisms of this pain and its profound impact on quality of life.
Aging is universally associated with increased discomfort, pain, and a decline in overall well-being. A central aspect of her research is to understand why these changes occur and to identify effective solutions to improve the quality of life for both humans and animals in their later years.
Using animal models, she examines risk factors, and the brain mechanisms involved, particularly the loss of endogenous pain modulation. Her work aims to identify more effective therapeutic strategies to alleviate pain, including more targeted pharmacological treatments, dietary supplements, and other interventions.
