2025 Admissions
The Coll猫ge des m茅decins du Qu茅bec聽requires new medical students to submit their own verification of judicial antecedents certificate (also known as a police check or certificate of good conduct, depending on what terms your local police uses), which must have been issued no more than 4 months before you submit it to the CMQ. CMQ registration takes place in September.聽 After MDCM Orientation in August you will receive access to the CMQ secure website where you will upload your police check and any other required registration documents.聽
This does not have to be the 鈥vulnerable sector鈥 type or equivalent. However, you can obtain whichever type is more convenient for you; police services in each municipality may have different procedures and associated costs for these services.聽The certificate must be issued by a police service that is authorized by the Centre d鈥檌nformation de la police Canadienne (CIPC) to complete this type of verification. In the majority of cases this is your local police service in the town where you live; or in some cases the RCMP. Please see the CMQ website below if there is not a Canadian organization that can issue you a certificate; you will need to submit proof that your request was refused.
Because obtaining this can take time, we encourage you to begin the process early (while ensuring that the certificate will not be issued more than 4 months before you register with the CMQ in September).聽
IMG 2 year students should start the process as soon as they accept their offer of admission; CMQ registration takes place in April.
Start by contacting the local police service matching your home address and identification documents. Procedures vary from service to service. In some cases you may need to pay a fee. Some services may waive the fee if the certificate is required for unpaid clinical course experience, volunteering, etc. which is the case for medical students. If your police service waives the fee but needs a proof document, you may want to submit your proof of enrolment letter (how to produce this letter from Minerva) If this is not sufficient, please email admissions.med [at] mcgill.ca and we will provide you with a specific letter that also confirms your enrolment, and also explains 1) that the CMQ requires this certificate for all medical student registration, 2) that it is for your unpaid clinical course experience during your medical degree, 3) that the university supports your request.聽 Note that some municipalities will not waive the fee even with this documentation.
For any other questions, please contact the CMQ directly, as the university does not have any additional information. Note that the CMQ communicates in French.
