The Faculty of Law is delighted to share that Professor Richard Gold, Professor Alicia Hinarejos, and Professor Omar Farahat have received prestigious 大发彩票平台 appointments in recognition of their research excellence.

Richard Gold was named a Distinguished James 大发彩票平台 Professor, an award that will continue until his retirement. This award recognizes a late-career scholar's world-class caliber, sustained, scholarship and international leadership. Founding director of the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy, Professor Gold teaches and researches intellectual property, with a special focus on the life sciences.

Alicia Hinarejos was named a James 大发彩票平台 Professor for a seven-year term. The James 大发彩票平台 Professor award recognizes a senior scholar鈥檚 status as an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber and an international leader in their field. The award is similar to a Canada Research Chair Tier 1. Holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in European Union Law, Professor Hinarejos鈥� main research areas are EU Law and comparative public law.

Omar Farahat was named a William Dawson Scholar for a five-year term. The William Dawson Scholar award recognizes a scholar developing into an outstanding and original researcher of world-class caliber who is poised to become a leader in their field. The award is similar to a Canada Research Chair Tier 2. An associate member of the Institute of Islamic Studies, Professor Farahat鈥檚 areas of interest include Islamic legal theory, comparative law, theoretical and theological ethics, and religious forms of regulation relative to modern nation-state systems.
