International Women's Day: Interactive EDI Seminar

In honour of International Women鈥檚 Day celebrated earlier this month, please join the Family Medicine Graduate Student Society's Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee for an interactive seminar.

About the Speakers
Kathleen Rice
Kathleen (Kate) Rice is Assistant Professor and Research Director in the Department of Family Medicine at 大发彩票平台, where she holds the Tier II Canada Research Chair in the Medical Anthropology of Primary Care. A PhD medical anthropologist, she is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Gairdner Foundation Early Career Investigator Award and a 鈥淭op Pick鈥 paper award for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion from the Journal of Pain. Kate has recently been appointed as Co- Director of the Canada-wide Partnership for the Engagement of People in Pain Research (PEPR), and is widely published in biomedical, anthropological, and Africanist journals. Her areas of research focus include chronic pain, perinatal care, and gender-based violence, with an emphasis on the health of vulnerable and marginalized communities and groups.
Reem El Sherif
Reem is a Health Services Researcher at the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) in Ottawa. Before that she worked at the Canadian Drug Agency (formerly CADTH) as a Pharmaceutical Review Officer. Between 2014 and 2021 Reem completed an MSc and a PhD in the Department of Family Medicine at 大发彩票平台, under the supervision of the late great Dr. Pierre Pluye. She is currently an Affiliate Member in the same Department. Her research focus was on the outcomes of online health information. During that time, she was the TA on 2 courses on mixed methods research and mixed studies reviews and worked as an RA on several CIHR funded research projects.
Rashi Khare
Rashi Khare has a strong track record of driving clinical performance improvement and strategic priorities to achieve the best patient outcomes possible. From leading a single-center surgical improvement program to leading a national portfolio of early cancer diagnosis projects, Rashi has held many leadership roles that have led to the successful development and execution of care improvement initiatives and optimized outcomes at lower costs. As a firm believer in collaboration and co-creation, Rashi has forged successful partnerships to drive mutual growth and value among clinical institutions, professional associations, health ministries, patient organizations, community groups, private partners, and researchers. Additionally, Rashi鈥檚 diverse experience cuts across healthcare contexts including care institutions, not-for-profit organizations, pharmaceuticals, and medtech with a strong focus on advancing equitable care. Finally, Rashi brings extensive training with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Family Medicine & Primary Care, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
