 ussion of the life experiences of Inuit people. Last week’s (Jan 25th) fil
 m examined the impact on three men sent as young boys to the south for the
 ir education as part of an experiment – they each went on to work for poli
 tical change as they felt the need to reconnect with their cultural herita
 ge and home communities.\n\nThis week’s film\, Arctic Defenders\, tells th
 e remarkable story that began in 1968 with a radical Inuit movement in Can
 ada. It led to the largest land claim in western civilization\, orchestrat
 ed by young visionary Inuit with a dream -the governance of their territor
 y- the creation of Nunavut. At the same time\, the story reveals the dark 
 side of Canada's attempt at sovereignty in the north and finds hope and in
 spiration from determined Inuit who changed the rules of the game.\n\n\nMc
 Gill's Faculty of Education and The P. Lantz Initiative for Excellence in 
 Education and the Arts present the 2018 season of the Weekly Indigenous Fi
 lm Series\, facilitated by Lori Beavis and supported by ´ó·¢²ÊƱƽ̨'s Departmen
 t of Integrated Studies in Education and the Institute for Human Developme
