Resear chers and clinicians will work through an activity that highlights key dif ferences between research and quality improvement\, including project aims \, interventions\, risks\, and knowledge dissemination. Special emphasis w ill be placed on obtaining ethics approval for participatory research. By the end of the session\, attendees will understand the steps required to o btain ethics approval for their own projects.\n\nWorkshop 2: Harmony in Re search: roles and responsibilities with Machelle Wilchesky\, PhD.\, and Ro land Grad\, MD.\n\nThis workshop will outline the various roles within a r esearch team\, including principal investigators\, co-investigators\, rese arch coordinators\, data analysts\, and other essential contributors. It w ill highlight the the importance and concepts of each different role: lead ership hierarchy\, project ownership\, expectations\, and workload distrib ution. It will aslo explore how to navigate potential conflicts and disagr eements through constructive and respectful approaches.\n\nWorkshop 3: Tur ning clinical questions into scholarly inquiry with Jeannie Haggerty. PhD. \, and Karin Fink. MD\, PhD.\n\nThis workshop will allow both clinicians a nd researchers to collaborate in formulating scholarly inquiries that addr ess burning questions that emerge from clinical practices. Scholarly inqui ry may pertain to new knowledge needed for clinical practice or for improv ing the care process. The PICO method of framing inquiries is used by both clinicians and researchers to provide direction for how to address the sc holarly inquiry.\n\nWorkshop 4: QI-101: Essentials of Continuous Quality I mprovement with Isabelle Gaboury\, PhD.\n\nContinuous quality improvement (CQI) is one of the ten pillars of the Patient鈥檚 Medical Home but often re mains an abstract concept. Through this interactive session\, you will be introduced to the basic concepts of CQI and will practice them throughout the presentation. Using concrete examples from family medicine\, we will p rovide an overview of the various steps in the CQI process and present dif ferent tools for use.
