He outlines his pessimis tic unease regarding the accelerating impact of identity politics on a for m of social justice that has become uninspiring\, narcissistic\, and vapid . The collective apathy toward the deleterious effects of structural and s ystemic societal imbalances has exacerbated existing intolerances and incr eased polarization. \n\nPartisan politics\, which thrive on highly divisiv e debates\, catalyze the abuse and erosion of public trust through various disinformation campaigns\, resulting in the dismantling of the democratic functioning of our shared society. Nevertheless\, by standing with and am plifying the voices of his highly capable community allies\, Vivek’s team of researchers\, community organizers\, artists\, and policy experts at Pr oject SOMEONE and the UNESCO Chair in Prevention of Radicalization and Vio lent Extremism seek to refocus and reimagine the humanistic ideals of soci al cohesion. \n\nProfessor Venkatesh presents examples of a range of arts and community initiatives that enable his partners to own and revolutioniz e their own understanding— as well as the collective understanding— of wha t it means to create pluralistic platforms for dialogue. These initiatives aim to combat the rhetoric of division and pave the way for restoring the principles of an inclusive society.\n\nApril 10\, 2025\n 3:30 PM to 5:00 P M\n\nClick to Join the Zoom Session\n\n\n Hosted by the Department of Globa l & Sociocultural Studies Sociology\, Anthropology\, and Geography Graduat e Student Association\n DTSTART:20250410T193000Z DTEND:20250410T210000Z SUMMARY:Dean Venkatesh Presents Social Pedagogy for Building Sustainable Re silience with Dispossessed Communities URL:/education/channels/event/dean-venkatesh-presents- social-pedagogy-building-sustainable-resilience-dispossessed-communities-3 64742 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
